What is "the PAC"?
The Kitchener Elementary School Parent Advisory Council (PAC) works with the school to enrich the education of our children and to encourage parent involvement. The PAC also participates in the School Planning Council (SPC) and contributes to a sense of community within the school and between the school, home and neighbourhood. If you are a parent or guardian of a child at Kitchener, you are a member of the Kitchener PAC.
The PAC (both financially and by helping out) plans, organizes and contributes to various events and activities to support and engage the students in their school community. These activities include the Family BBQ’s, Pancake Breakfast, Walk-a-thon and poinsettia sales. Fundraising is intended to provide additional support to the school to help fund field trips, upgrade technology and purchase books or equipment.
There are many different ways to become involved, that range from volunteering at an event to actually being on the PAC Executive. There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year – no experience or expertise is required! – and you can be as little or as deeply involved as you have time for, as any help is appreciated. By being involved, you have an input on what PAC funds are spent on and it`s also a great way to network with other parents and to keep up-to-date on the latest information and events at Kitchener.
PAC meetings are held once a month where we hear a report from the principal and representatives of the PAC. The meetings are on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
All PAC meeting dates, agendas, events and information are posted on the Kitchener PAC website at http://kitchenerpac.weebly.com/ and also via the PAC link on the school website at http://kitchener.sd41.bc.ca/.
